The facility manager must use various abilities to ensure an effective and successful transition of employees to an open work environment. One ability that is essential to enlisting employees' support and excitement for change is communication. The effectiveness of the facility manager will be aided by the use of a procedure to drive change and a communication plan to involve staff in the relocation's reactions. This study addresses employee reactions to change and offers models for a change process effectively used to oversee the relocation of a corporation's regional office. Four useful tools are also provided, which can assist the facility manager in creating a communication plan to facilitate a smooth transition to an open work environment. Understanding Employee Concerns
Employees often have ideas, information, and opinions for constructive ways to improve work and work organizations. Sometimes these employees exercise voice and express their ideas, information, and opinions; and other times they engage in silence and withhold their ideas, information, and opinions. On the surface, expressing and withholding behaviors might appear to be polar opposites because silence implies not speaking while voice implies speaking up on important issues and problems in organizations. (Linn Van Dyne, Ang, and Botero, 2003)

When organizations set out to manage their communications by the corporate ideal, they seem to take for granted that they are transparent, not only to their surroundings but also to themselves. The notion of corporate communications, in other words, builds on the assumption that organizations can have a general view of themselves as communicating entities. - Leadership and Role Modeling
The present research examines the relationships between ethical leadership and unit-level organizational citizenship behaviors (OCB) and individual-level job satisfaction. In addition, this study tests the proposition that the impact of ethical leadership on these outcomes is moderated by leader role modeling strength, a unit-level construct that captures within-group consensus regarding the extent to which unit members perceived the leader as a role model of ethical behaviors at work.(Babatunde Ogunfowora, 2014)
Successfully transitioning employees to an open work environment hinges on strategic communication that is transparent, inclusive, and supportive. By actively involving employees in the process, providing the necessary training and resources, and maintaining open lines of communication, organizations can mitigate resistance and foster a positive, collaborative work culture.
